- I'm interested in your WorldWide Cities database with either a quarterly or bi-annual updated plan. How are the upgrades priced?
Our prices follow a One Time Cost Per Year subscription plan. Which means that if you buy our WorldWide database with bi-annual updates, you will receive the initial world file at the time of the purchase plus two updates over the year - one after a 6-month period and the other, once the year is over - without, of course, any additional charges. Should you decide to continue with those upgrades, you will also instantly get 25% off towards the prices of the subsequent years.
- Are there any other payments than the initial product price (that includes monthly updates)?
No, the prices on our website are all inclusive.
- Which data are usually updated on GlobixWorld Cities? Is it country information or city information?
We update all new and/or modified city information on a monthly basis. Of course, when country borders and data get changed, we update those as well.
- We're finding some duplication in the DB that we can't figure out. Can you explain what this would be due to?
Please note that in some countries, there can be more than one occurence of the same city name . For example, there is a city called Barsuki which is located on the 1st-level administrative region of Vitsyebskaya in Belarus at latitude 54.54 & longitude 30.85 (as showed here), while there is also a Barsuki located on the other administrative region of Mahilyowskaya - again in Belarus - at latitude 53.81 & longitude 30.12, and so on.
It seems that there are no regulations that prevent urbanists to re-use the same city names on different geographic locations, even though some of those locations might be close to one another. It is very important, as one browses through our World City Database, to keep in mind that those occurences are all different cities.
- How do you provide updates?
We provide updates by sending a link to the full data file from a secured section of our web site. GlobixWorld updates are ready on the 15th of each month.
- What sources do you use for your data, how are the locations geocoded and how do you keep them up-to-date?
The sources of our city names, as well as our geocoding info, are gathered from a few selected United States governmental and public agencies. The information is extremely reliable, and we regularly update it (the 15th of each month) according to our sources' updates.
- Can you explain precisely how GlobixWorld Cities entries for Cities/States/Countries are presented in your database?
- - City names are found under the column "FULL_NAME", "FULL_NAME_ND" and "SORT_NAME"

- States names are found under the column "ADM1". The 2-alphanumeric code you see here is the key to the relational data table called "ADM1.txt" which contains full state names
- Country names are found under the column "CC1" linking to the relational table "CC1.txt" - What is the structure of your relational tables in relation to the main table?
This page provides you with a general overview of our tables' structure.
Please note that each table and its relational linking is clearly explained within the README file included in your purchase.
- Do you provide population data and time zones for every city in your World Cities Databases?
For the time being, we do not provide such additional entries as the population and time zones in our World Cities Database, or any other database. Our products focus mainly on geographical data and coordinates and administrative information.
